Zadar, Croatia, september 2011.Alex Cretey-Systermans.

Hello everyone.
I’ll be offline for a moment. I’m packing my gear for a new trip i’m very excited about.

Tommorow I’ll fly from Paris to Bangkok, to catch a plane to Myanmar (Burma).

During 12 days, I’ll be crossing the country from Rangoon to the beautiful beaches of Ngapali via the wonderful valley of Bagan, Heho, the magic Lake Inle and Kengtun to make a reportage for A/R magazine, Oui Magazine, Le Journal du Dimanche and La Provence.

I’m very excited and a bit anxious to travel in one of the last severe dictatorship in the world.

This may sound controversial, and a lot of newsmags and medias in France said they were not interested in featuring my reportage for ethic and political reasons, saying they won’t support a totalitarian regime featurng a travel reportage in this country.
But, after thinking of it, I’m pretty sure that making photos of Burma, showing the country and its people is better for them than leaving them alone and try not to think of them. Today, The military Junte is showing signs of opening. Aung San Suu Kyi is free and allowed to run as candidate for elections with her own party.

I’ll be probably offline during the whole trip.
See you with new works at the end of the month.
I leave you with a photo from my recent Dalmatian trip in september 2011.
