awkgrep: Not to defend Tumblr, but sometimes when people repost photos it doesn't grab the credit information. I have run into this issue. It has to do with the different themes people use.

Man you’re right, it really depends on the theme people choose for their blog.
I would never choose a theme that doesn’t allow to credit authors.
And Tumblr shouldn’t allow such freedom.
A basic rule : when you don’t know who is the artist, don’t blog or reblog. There is plenty of wonderful stuff with known authorship to blog everywhere.
